DropLove

DropLove lets fans tip DJs straight from the dance floor. A DJ shares a personal QR code during a set; fans scan it, tip in a couple of taps, and the DJ watches earnings update in real time. GBot designed and built the product as a launch-ready MVP.

Overview

Tipping a performer mid-set should be effortless. DropLove turns a QR code into a payment: the DJ displays their code, the fan scans and taps, and the money lands directly in the DJ's account — with transparent, real-time earnings on the DJ's side.

The Challenge

The experience has to be frictionless on both sides — no awkward fumbling for the fan, instant feedback for the DJ — and the money has to move directly and transparently between strangers. That meant a fast scan-to-tip flow, real-time updates, and a proper marketplace payment setup connecting fans to individual DJs.

What We Built

• DJ profiles with shareable, personalised QR codes for gigs and streams.
• A fan flow to scan a code and tip in seconds, with an optional emoji or message.
• A real-time earnings dashboard so DJs see tips as they arrive.
• Follows and social connections between fans and DJs.
• A multi-role app (DJ / fan / admin) with role-based navigation and access.
• Stripe Connect for direct payouts to DJs.

Technical Highlights

• A QR pipeline pairing code generation with fast in-app scanning, plus deep links that route a scan straight into the tip flow.
• Stripe Connect marketplace payments, routing each tip to the right DJ's payout account.
• Real-time tip notifications and earnings updates over Firebase.
• A professional release setup: three Firebase environments (dev, staging, production) with flavoured entry points and documented release procedures.
• A clean, code-generated architecture (Riverpod, auto_route with route guards, dart_mappable, Theme Tailor).

Outcome & Impact

• A production-ready MVP, built with input from working DJs and running in a private alpha.
• A scan-to-tip experience that takes a fan from QR code to completed tip in seconds.
• A multi-environment, well-documented codebase ready to scale from alpha to launch.
